The most popular activity for both local citizens and tourists to do on Sundays is Car Free Day. There you can find almost everything you want, including traditional food, shoes, electronics, clothes, souvenirs, exotic reptiles and dog training. It begins really early, so if you want to walk slowly to look everything calmly and enjoy the treasure hunting, you should arrive at around 7 a.m.
We arrived there around 9 a.m., the peak hour in the morning, so it was really crowded already. The first thing that drew our attention was the group dancing, which everyone could join, including children, adult and even elderly. After this, we walked around through the crowd to see what that huge fair could offer us. There we could find a lot of traditional handcrafts and accessories, which are the most suitable souvenirs for girls or those who got many orders of souvenirs. Also, there are T-shirts and batiks with cheap prices, good place for us to prepare for our following trip to Bali.
Later we walked along the main road, on the right side, there were some exhibition of tanks. On the other side we watched a performance by a well-trained dog and took lot of photos with an incredible big snake and lizards. It was a little scary at the beginning but we enjoyed a lot. There were a lot of hawkers selling different kinds of homemade traditional food that we could not even try all! My favourite one was Tempura, kind of fried seafood sausage made of fish and shrimp.
We also saw some students from university society and other groups doing demonstrations to spread their ideas to the citizens, for example, anti-smoking and traditional music dissemination.
One thing annoyed us a bit was that we could not find any garbage bin on the main road, we just found it near the food stalls at the joint of the roads, guess it aimed to keep all the space on the main road usable. It would be better if there were more garbage bins along the road, as it's not so enjoyable to keep the trash while we were doing treasure hunting!
